Army Light Aviation Corps (ALAT)
The Army Light Aviation Corps
Since 1999, the Army Light Aviation Corps (ALAT) has fitted several of their aircraft with onboard navigation systems. The EuroNav III system, commissioned for the first time in Gazelle Viviane squadrons, meets most exercise management and time tactical situation requirements.
ALAT’s requirements
The objectives of this project were to improve flight mission planning capacity with virtual navigation in a 3D cartographic environment.
[...] In particular, ALAT was seeking a tool enabling calculation of 3D intervisibilities.
GeoConcept’s solution
GeoConcept SA supplied ALAT with a complete solution integrating :
- GeoConcept Defense cartographic engine,
- VirtualGeo for GeoConcept for mission preparation in a 3D environment. This module supports data exchanges with the EURONAV III system. When complemented by the VirtualGeo module, the GeoConcept engine allows ALAT crews to analyse the terrain they will be working in.
Advantages
The immediate advantage the GeoConcept solution offers is far more efficient mission preparation, analysis and operational control.
Combined with the GeoConcept engine and the VirtualGeo module, the EuroNav III navigation system provides ALAT with a tool delivering maximum efficiency in the field.
"ALAT is already way ahead of its time, and its users can anticipate the arrival of new aircraft such as the Tigre and NH 90 helicopters with complete composure..." one of ALAT’s directors asserted.
